What is Granville Moore’s?
Simply, Granville Moore’s is “A Gastropub with a Healthy Belgian Fetish”. Our Gastropub features great food and an amazing selection of Belgian Beer. Gaining notoriety from the Washingtonian (Best of 2008 & 2009, Top 100 Cheap Eats 2008, Top 75 Bars 2009), Washington City Paper (Best of D.C. 2008 & 2009 – Best Mussels, Young and Hungry Top 50 Restaurants 2009), Imbibe Magazine Top 100 Places to Drink in America (Top Ten Gastropubs) and “Everyday with Rachel Ray” (District of Cool – October 2008), Granville Moore's has become a staple in the H Street NE neighborhood.. We were also challenged to a “Moules - Frites Throwdown” in March 2008, with Food Network Star, Chef Bobby Flay – and won!

Who is Dr. Granville Moore?
Dr. Granville Moore was a neighborhood Doctor who twice a week provided pro-bono work for the sick and less fortunate members of the community at the location of Granville Moore’s. Although not much is known about him, we have had several wonderful visitors come in and share their stories of the Doctor. We sometimes feel that maybe he has been looking over us, just as he took care of others here for so long. We kept the name as an homage to the man who did so much for this community.

What is a Gastropub?
A Gastropub tends to be genuine old pubs that have been overhauled, yet retain the character of a traditional English pub. The furnishings are simple, and the food is usually Modern European, with a dash of personal touches. The prices, though moderate for the type of dishes being served, are higher than what you might expect for a typical pub. Moreover, you probably order at the bar, though the plates will be brought to your table, and like a pub, should you choose not to eat, you may drink without ordering food.

What type of food do you serve?
Granville Moore’s Kitchen, headed by Executive Chef Teddy Folkman, presents a simple, flavorful, straightforward menu. Traditional Moules (Mussels) prepared in multiple ways, Frites (twice-fried fries, hand-cut) with various dipping sauces, fresh Bison Burgers, Cuts of the Day, Steaks, Seafood, Soup, Sandwiches and Salads. From the Foie specials to the addictive Frites, Granville Moore’s strives to offer traditional Gastropub cuisine prepared with respect for the food and to the expectations of the customer. With no freezers or ovens in the microscopic 4 burner kitchen, most everything is prepared daily using all natural meats, fresh seafood and local (as well as some organic) produce.

What types of Beer do you serve?
Granville Moore’s selection of Belgian ales is one of the largest in the Mid-Atlantic. We look to maintain a diverse list of eclectic beers. All the beers are personally chosen by our Beverage Director, Pat McMonagle, based on their individual merits and seasonality. We have over 70 true Belgian Beers by the bottle and 6 more on draft at any given time with a small selection of "Belgian Style" American ales (Available April 2009). Our beer menu changes weekly. Because of our importers inventory, our beers sometimes don't always make it to the good Doctor's. Please check our current beer list and Chalkboards for the most up to date beer pertinent information!

Not that there is any need, but what other libations are available besides Belgian Beer?
Granville’s offers wine and a full selection of liquor including an impressive selection of bourbon.

Do you take reservations and what is the wait time like to seat?
Because of our limited space, we do not take reservations. Seating is on a first come first serve basis managed by our host. Waits vary throughout the week. You can always call 202.399.BLGM (2546) that evening and speak with our staff who will let you know the seating situation. If you live or are in the neighborhood, you can stop by and if we are full (typically by 6:00pm) simply give your name and cell number to the host. They will then contact you to let you know when your table is ready. While waiting, feel free to enjoy some beverages at our bar or at our surrounding neighborhood establishments. From 7pm to 10pm is usually the busiest time so we suggest arriving between 5pm - 7pm for a better chance of dining without a wait. We encourage people to dine at the bar as well where we serve a full menu.
